The Bursary/Loan and Fund Management Unit is responsible for managing the financial support systems for students, ensuring that scholarships, loans, and bursaries are effectively administered to foster access to higher education.
Key responsibilities of the unit include:
- Publish and manage the local and international scholarships awarded by the Government of Rwanda;
- Draft the international cooperation agreements and MoUs in relation to students' scholarship programs;
- Verify and advise on the approval of students' payment invoices for living allowances for both local and international students;
- Promote and handle student mobility to and from foreign countries within the national academic framework;
- Facilitate and enhance international collaboration between internal and external higher education bodies;
- Manage loan/Bursary application process.
- Prepare and Manage the budget dedicated for bursary/Loan grantees;
- Manage a Student Support system to ensure that institutions are delivering effective and relevant support;
- Implement systems to ensure that the support provided to students is easily accessible.
- Act as a liaison for international cooperation in higher education.
- Ensure the proper functioning of the online systems for loan/bursary application services
