DG HEC Emphasizes Collaboration Between Policymakers and Universities for Evidence-Based Strategies

On May 23, 2025 Dr. Edward Kadozi, Director General of the Higher Education Council, represented the Minister of Education at the official opening of the 2025 Australia-Africa Universities Network (#AAUN) Conference hosted by the University of Rwanda under the “Artificial Intelligence and Higher Education.”

 In his opening remarks, Dr. Edward highlighted the immense potential of Artificial Intelligence to transform higher education—enhancing teaching, fostering innovation, and better preparing graduates for an AI-enabled world.

  He emphasized the need for close collaboration between national policymakers and universities to ensure that strategies are evidence-based, well-aligned, and responsive to the needs of the society.

 "Artificial Intelligence is no longer a concept of the future—it is transforming the present. From personalized learning and adaptive content delivery to predictive analytics and data-driven decision-making, AI is reshaping how we teach, how we learn, and how we generate knowledge”. 

 Dr. Edward, also chaired the session titled “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education: National and University Strategies,” which examined both national-level policies shaping AI in education and institutional approaches that implement these strategies within universities.

  Over the 2 days, top academics, policymakers, industry leaders & researchers from across continents will discussed the transformative power of AI; exploring how it can drive sustainable development, revolutionize education systems and tackle pressing global and regional challenges.
